If you have an iPhone 3GS, @hsugene on Twitter posted this about Hipstamatic 150's processing times:

"I have a 3GS and it takes about 5-10 seconds shot-to-shot. It also seems to vary a bit depending on which lens is chosen."

Hi, John,

Each HipstaPak is an additional $0.99 and can be purchased in-app. There are several websites that illustrate the filters of the the three previous paks -- I haven't seen one yet which includes the new Camden pak. You can see what they do to decide before you add them.

For me so far, each HipstaPak has at least one filter (film, lens or flash) that makes it worthwhile to own. For instance, lately, I've been shooting with the Roboto Glitter lens from the Shibuya pak using the BlacKeys B+W from the Portland pak.

Here's a link to the excellent comparison guide (for the first three paks) from DJ Paine: (copy and paste the link in your browser if it doesn't work for you)
 <a href="http://www.iphoneography.com/journal/2010/1/25/hipstamatic-comparison-guide-courtesy-of-dj-paine.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.iphoneography.com/journal/2010/1/25/hi...</a>

I hope this helps!

Could you please tell me how much the in-app extras cost? I want to buy this app, but am a little leery of what the app will actually cost if all the extras are purchased. Thanks for your help wit this!

Hey Marty

Just wanted to shed a little bit of light onto why some of the processing times for the 150 are actually longer than the 110 -- It's mainly due to the addition of EXIF data being saved to prints in the 150. Because the image has to be rewritten when the EXIF is appended to the file, there is increased processing time. This is unfortunate, and we're still looking into ways to further optimize both that code and the other image processing code. We certainly did put some effort into improving the startup time, and I'm happy to see that your data supports this.

Thanks for running these numbers, and we look forward to continuing to improve the Hipstamatic (both in features available and also in processing time) with future releases.

Cheers,
Ryan @ Hipstamatic

Briefly, here are the Hipstamatic 110 vs. 150 times that I tested. These times are using the High-Quality Print settings in both versions. Keep in mind that Hipstamatic 150 is processing more pixels than the 110 version. I think the few additional seconds are a worthwhile tradeoff for a larger image size.

(Times may vary a little.)

Startup time till ready to shoot: 110=10.4 secs, 150=7.8 secs.
Shot till ready for next shot (shot to shot): 110=15.2 secs, 150=18.1 secs.
Shot to shot while saving an image: 110=26.0-26.5 secs, 150=26.5-31.4 secs.
Shutter until green light (print ready): 110=25.1 secs, 150=29.5 secs.

Those are the Hipstamatic times and results that I got on my 2G. I'd be interested to know how your times are.
