2010 was a breakthrough year for iPhoneography. It’s been an exciting year and a lot has happened. Here’s my rundown of the biggest iPhoneography news stories of 2010.
One of the many updates we can expect when the App Store returns from the holiday vacation is a new Hipstamatic update. Hot on the heels of the Hipstamatic 185 update, Synthetic are releasing the 190 update which includes a new feature, a new film, and various bug fixes.
If you’re like me and obsessively hit the App Store app hourly to check for new photo apps and updates, you’ve probably noticed that things have been quiet there since last Thursday. That’s because iTunes Connect has been closed for the holidays.
VolumeSnap is back in several minor apps. The latest is Quick Snap – Camera Plus which was released on December 15, 2009. They are pretty blatant about the feature, describing VolumeSnap in the first line of the App Store description and they even use photos of the Easter Egg.

The latest issue of Wassau City Pages, an alternative weekly newspaper in Wassau, Wisconsin has published a story about Hipstamatic’s creators Ryan Dorshorst. Deputy Editor Rick LaFrombois dug pretty deep into the Hipstamatic backstory. What he found indicates that the Hipstamatic backstory may be “a myth.”
For the holidays, MacPhun has decided to drop prices for their 10 most popular apps for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad. All ten apps are just $0,99 each.
There are a ton of Lomography apps in the App Store. Nearly all of the biggies are as good as or better at recreating the LOMO experience digitally. Nearly all do it far less expensively than the LomoLomo apps.
Black & White Photo Free has a few bugs. It could be a good free app when the bugs are fixed.
