Have you checked out Facebook’s iPhone Photography Competition (IPC) page? Every month, iPhoneographers submit photos based on a chosen theme. The last month’s theme was “Magic Hour” – sunset photos shot and apped using only an iPhone or iPod Touch. The winner of this competition was iPhoneographer Laura Peischl with her stunning photograph “Ostia, Italy”, shown above.

You may already be familiar with Laura’s work. Several of her images have been featured in LoFi’s weekly Faved on Flickr feature. Here’s Laura in her own words:

I was born in Romania, lived for almost 17 years in Vienna/Austria where I got my university degrees in German Studies and Psychology from the University of Vienna. Since 7 years, I am living with my family in Malta and the beauty of this tiny island, the friendliness of the people here and the mediterranean life style are such a big source of inspiration. I have my own pr | marketing and event production company and… studying again at the New York Institute of Photography.

Photographs always fascinated me but never thought I will once go into it myself.

Capturing images with an iPhone is so sophisticated in it’s simplicity, with the iPhone in my hands my eye senses a totally different world, interesting details, shadows, reflections, things and situations that I never perceived before. My special passion and interest goes to street photography lately, to capturing true emotions and feelings and thoughts on people’s faces, which would never be possible with any other cam.

Around since November, 2009, The IPC is a monthly competition and is free to enter. Winners are determined by reader votes. The winner gets to choose the theme of the next competition, and to sweeten the pot, the winner also gets a feature here on Life In LoFi.
