ClassicINSTAClassicINSTA, the instant camera simulator in misskiwi’s popular Classic Camera line of photo apps, has been updated to version 5.2.

The latest version brings the total film types up to an even dozen, adding the Scarlet film which originally debuted in the last update of sibling app ClassicTOY. Images shot with Scarlet look more like they came from an old plastic camera than from an instant camera, but they still look great and I’m not one to complain about new toys to play with.

The update also adds a 4th border style, a subtle black edge with a through-the-viewfinder feel to it. The addition of this border means you can process images using any of the 12 filter effects even if you don’t want an instant-style border.

ClassicINSTA 5.2 UI changesFinally, settings for ClassicINSTA can now be accessed from within the app rather than through the iPhone’s Settings app. Making changes and swapping between the 4 camera skins is much more convenient. Sharing is still limited to Facebook or email.

I’m a big fan of Misskiwi. She actively maintains all of her apps, regularly adding new features and responding quickly to bug reports. This latest update to ClassicINSTA adds some very nice versatility to the app. Hopefully we’ll see a similar update hit ClassicINSTA Free soon.

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch (4th generation), iPad 2 Wi-Fi, and iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G. Requires iOS 4.1 or later.
