QuickPix (formerly QuikCam) is Out Now. And It’s Fast….

QuikCam, the speedy camera replacement app from Two Teeth Technologies, has been renamed and is now called QuickPix. The new update is out and while light on new features — the previous 1.1 update had a ton of them — it’s got some very impressive performance improvements.

In addition to the new name and all the features from the previous update, here’s what’s new in QuickPix version 1.2:

  • Improved burst speed
  • Improved app start-up time after first launch
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when the users Photo app camera roll was empty
  • Fixed a bug that resulted in improper image orientation when the
    orientation lock was on

The already impressive full resolution burst mode is even faster in this update. It now averages nearly 2 full-res captures per second on an iPhone 4 and over 6 captures per second on an iPod Touch 4th Gen — that’s over 30 images in 5 seconds. No other camera app I’ve tested has a full-res burst mode this fast. Recovery time feels faster in this update.

QuickPix is designed for speed and simplicity, but still has plenty of advanced features to make it a good choice as a camera replacement.

The update is free to all previous owners of QuikCam. Just update in iTunes. QuickPix is normally $1.99, but is currently on sale now for 99¢ for a limited time. Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.1 or later.
