New Vintage Digital Vernacular Letters
Call for entries: Send us your snapshots of awesome type.
Deadline: Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

Thanks to smartphones’ decent cameras, loads of fun photo apps, and virtually unlimited storage space, it’s easier than ever to snap and collect interesting images. And you, with your deep fascination of the letters you encounter, undoubtedly have a growing collection of images of type.

The upcoming exhibition “New Vintage Digital Vernacular Letters” (Feb 1st – Mar 31st) will celebrate the endless diversity of type found from around the world as documented by you. We would like to invite you to take part and contribute some of your favorite photos of type and lettering you’ve captured.

WHAT EXACTLY:
1. The main subject should be type/lettering/numbers/of or relating to typography…

2. All images must be square.

3a. A vintage or distressed look (shot with Instagram, Hipstamatic, or a similar phone app) is encouraged!
3b. Crisp/clean photos from any other camera/app will also be accepted.
3c. For the purists: feel free to send in scanned analog photos.

SEND US:
1. Your name as you’d like it displayed.

2. The city/location where you took your photo.

3. A link to your website (optional).

Participants will be listed both in the gallery and on our website.

Simply email your photos and info to photos@motaitalic.com

Deadline: Wednesday, January 25th, 2012
Multiple photos from individuals will be accepted, but not all will be printed. Only the best will pass the curatorial selection!

The final images will be printed on glossy photo paper 9.9cm (3.9in) square. Images too small or low res will not be accepted… keep this in mind if scaling down images.

THE FINE PRINT:
All photos must be taken by you; you are responsible for the copyrights – and you retain all rights to your original photos.

By submitting your photos you agree for Mota Italic to print 1-3 copies of your image and display them in the Mota Italic Gallery for this exhibition. One photo will be used for the exhibition and the others will be sold (for a tiny fee) to help offset some of the exhibition costs.

Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Now go out and photograph some unique type! Then send it in!

More information can be found on the Mota Italic website.
