“Studio b. is excited to bring the Light Impressions installation to the Russell Collection’s 10-Year Anniversary Celebration. Our installation features 40 of the movers and shakers in the newest art movement, iPhoneography.” – Colleen Duffley, Studio b.

Press Release:

A pillar of the Austin arts community, the Russell Collection Fine Art Gallery is celebrating its tenth anniversary on October 11, 2012, with a special party to say “Thank You” to its local Austin fans featuring live music, food, a locally curated photography chandelier, a new camera phone exhibit displayed on 40 iPads, and a display of works by masters, impressionists, contemporary artists and sculptors.

One of the evening’s highlights is Studio b.’s revolutionary “Light Impressions” exhibit. The first iPhoneography installation of its kind, “Light Impressions” features the photography of 40 artists from around the world, displayed on 40 iPads for a total rotation of 520 images. Touring nationally and abroad, the installation will be on display at Russell Collection from October 4-13. Photography books and prints of the exhibit will be available for purchase at the anniversary celebration.

And, it’s not only Picasso that will be on display. Austinites will also have the chance to have their artistry featured in a mobile phone art chandelier – comprised of images that they send to Studio b. that embraces the theme of “My Austin.” Aspiring photographers and amateurs of all ages are encouraged to email camera phone photos to scoop (at) studiobthebeach (dot) com by 5:00 p.m. on September 29 for the opportunity to have their images featured on the mobile art chandelier, which will be revealed at the party.

“Studio b. is so excited to bring the Light Impressions installation to the Russell Collection Fine Art Gallery’s 10-Year Anniversary Celebration. Our installation features 40 of the movers and shakers in the newest art movement, Iphoneography. Austin is in for a delightful surprise when they see the expert deftness with which our featured photographers handle their subjects, lighting and editing on a mobile device,” says Colleen Duffley, founder of Studio b. and founder/curator of Light Impressions.

Ten years ago Lisa Russell transformed Austin’s arts landscape when she opened Russell Collection’s doors in 2002. With the gallery’s expansion in 2009, which nearly doubled its original size, Russell Collection remains the premier destination for world-class art in Austin and Central Texas.

Russell Collection’s tenth anniversary party is open to the public; RSVP requested. Please call 512-478-4440 or email info@russell-collection.com. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. For more information visit russell-collection.com or Facebook/russellcollection.
