Hueless 1.6 is coming this week. We’ve got a preview!

Hueless, black & white, iPhoneThe latest update of black & white photo app Hueless hits the App Store this week. Again, there are very cool features and as with previous updates, the app is fast and solid.

We’ve got a preview of version 1.6. Keep reading to find out what’s in store. >>>

The two new features of Hueless 1.6 are great features for creating gorgeous black & white iPhoneography in camera.

To compliment the new Contrast slider introduced in a previous update, Hueless now features a new Contrast Balance adjustment. This is an excellent power tool that lets you fine-tune the contrast adjustment much like a gamma adjustment. Basically, you can tweak the midtones without effecting the dark and light points of your contrast adjustment.

If you like to shoot in different black & white styles (like I do), you will love Hueless’ new presets. With a tap, you can now save up to four presets of your image adjustments — contrast, exposure settings, etc., interface settings, or both. It’s a great feature that enables you to quickly restore your favorite shooting settings. I like the flexibility of having the choice to save grid and aspect ratio settings or not.

One of the things I love about Hueless is that as the utility of the app grows, the developers maintain ease of use and simplicity of the interface. The new tools integrate nicely in this update and they get out of your way when shooting. Can’t ask for more than that.

The new update also has other improvements and bug fixes, including iOS 6 compatibility and Export to Facebook from within the app. The gridlines are now dynamic and adjust correctly to the corresponding aspect ratio.

Hueless is rock solid and ran extremely stable in my tests. No missed shots. Although the new update does not support the larger screen, it ran great letterboxed on a new iPhone 5.

Hueless 1.6 is another great update. If you already like the app, you’ll love the new features.

Hueless is $1.99. The new update should street tomorronw. Requirements: Compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation), iPad 2 Wi-Fi, iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G, iPad (3rd generation) and iPad Wi-Fi + 4G. Requires iOS 5.0 or later.

It looks like the update doesn't support the iPhone 5's 4" screen.

Greg – iPhone 5 4" screen support coming very soon, we're designing & testing options for all that new space.

Looking forward to the update, would really love to see iPhone5 support, but I doubt I'd trade iPhone5 support for these great new features.

I love to take pictures with Hueless, but I have to say that I don't understand the filters. Do they give any difference to the shots? Never found out the differences they make… Maybe I'm using it wrong, I don't know. Can anyone help me with this? I think to that they should put in the update a way to open the app faster. It's to slow to open, in my opinion… But the bw pictures taken with it are the best, without a doubt!
