Halftone is a great app that recreates the printed, aged, halftone feel of old comic books. There are a lot of the halftone-style apps in the App Store, but Halftone is by far the best app I’ve found so far for recreating pulpy, comic book-style images. It’s got plenty of settings to customize your work and even links directly to Camera+ for easy access, if that’s your camera replacement app of choice. There are plenty of high-quality, well-rendered “low quality” paper backgrounds to choose from. The developer has added the great Aviary photo editing module for in-app image enhancement. Halftone supports full iPhone 5 output and screen resolution — one of the few halftone-style apps that do. It’s a universal app and works great on any iDevice you run it on.
Halftone is normally $0.99 in the App Store. Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
