Photo App Giveaway: We’ve Got Hueless to Give Away Today!
My love of black & white photography goes way back when my dad and I would “roll our own” PLUS-X Pan when I was a kid. So, today’s app giveaway is Hueless, one of my favorite black & white photo apps.

Hueless is an excellent black & white camera app from a great developer who regularly adds great functionality to the app without losing site of its core focus — quickly and easily taking great black & white photos.
The most recent update added even more great features, such as a contrast balance slider and easy-access settings presets, while still keeping the interface uncluttered. Hueless is now optimized to fill the larger screen of the iPhone 5 and makes excellent use of the additional space. With its great toolset and clean interface, Hueless is a great camera app for shooting black & white.
Hueless is $1.99. Requirements: Compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation), iPad 2 Wi-Fi, iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G, iPad (3rd generation) and iPad Wi-Fi + 4G. Requires iOS 5.0 or later.

Marty, I did a double read at the "roll our own."
It's hard to believe that I was in the darkroom pulling long hours only four years ago. There is no greater pleasure than rolling a reel in the dark and the smell of fix in the morning.
I use Simply B&W or Streetmate as I like the tonal values but none so far can duplicate what I did with my beloved red hassy and HP5 developed in Rodinal. I'm still reluctant to sell my enlarger but unfortunately it's gathering a lot of dust here in Dallas.
Maybe this can come close?
Streetmate is nice, but broken on my iPhone 4S. Haven't tried it with the 5. Simply B&W is an excellent B&W app for existing images — my goto app.
But Hueless has so many great tools — some of them unique among the B&W apps. It's a great black & white shooter. The developer is one of the rare ones that adds the cool features that we didn't even know we needed in the app yet. I'm not sucking up to the dev. I just really like Hueless.
