Cool App Giveaway: PureShot

Submitted by on January 12, 2013 – 5:23 am 138 Comments

pureshot for iphone

pureshot for iPhone and iPadI’m really excited about this giveaway! PureShot is the brand new camera replacement app from the developer of 645 PRO. PureShot is a top-quality filter-free (or #nofilter) app. It helps you capture digital photographs with the highest possible technical integrity. PureShot lets you shoot quality raw images without adding anything to get in your way. I’ve had a chance to shoot with the app and I really like it a lot.

The app was quietly released yesterday. I’ve got a few copies to give away this weekend. Keep reading to find out how you can win one. >>>

When I’m not shooting with Hipstamatic or Hueless, my style of iPhoneography is to shoot a raw image and import it into the appropriate app later to filter and app it. I’ll have a full review of PureShot sometime this week, but one of the things that I really like about the app is that it has a great set of tools for capturing the best possible raw image. There are some powerful options hidden away in this app’s settings and you can easily use them (or not) depending on your preference. For instance, you can set the shutter preference to trigger on press or press+release. Not only does it have a Night Mode which allows long exposures up to 1 second, it also takes advantage of the Low Light mode of the iPhone 5. The tools in the viewfinder are straightforward and out of the way. Unlike its older sibling 645 PRO, the controls only perform one task each. The display indicators are on the edge of the viewfinder and out of the way. With a click, they toggle off and on. It’s got a quick recovery time. It’s a great, well-designed app that helps you shoot fast. The feature set is similar in many ways to 645 PRO but PureShot is leaner, less intimidating, and easier to use.

PureShot Giveaway

Today, I’ve got several promo codes for PureShot to give away. To be eligible to win a copy, simply enter the giveaway below. If you follow us on Facebook and Twitter, you’ll have additional chances for a free copy.

Cut-off time to enter is 11:59 PM Eastern Time, Monday, January 14, 2013. Winners will be determined by Random.org. One code per reader, please.

Winners will be notified by email, Facebook message or Twitter direct message — be sure to check your spam filter. If you enter, be sure your email info is correct or your code will go to someone else. Your email address is used for contest entry and for contacting the winning entrants only. We will not use or sell your email address for any other purpose.

If you can’t wait and would rather purchase the app, PureShot is $1.99 in the App Store. It’s a Universal app and is designed for both iPhone and iPad. Cool! Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation), iPad 2 Wi-Fi, iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G, iPad (3rd generation), iPad Wi-Fi + 4G, iPad (4th generation), iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular (4th generation), iPad mini and iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular. Requires iOS 5.1 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.

I’d really love to try this app. 645’s complexity is my one problem for it, but in practice I’ve found I don’t use it that much as a result. This seems like an app I could fall in love with.

    I love to it!!
i looking forward to make a fantastic photo.

  • neene

by “raw” do you mean “unfiltered”?
i wasn’t aware that RAW actually existed for iphone.

    • Marty Yawnick

I mean raw unfiltered, not RAW format. I don’t think there are any camera apps that support RAW format on iPhone yet.

      =M=

  • blembonk

    Cant wait, give me one

  • Alex Kissin

Have so many different camera apps on my phone none show me the information I need at the critical time of image capture. I’ve held off adding 645pro to the collection as I can use a one App for this another for that approach, all the time thinking I would just like a no nonsense efficient and informative interface with all the control available. Came across this on flicker and immediately knew its what I’ve been waiting for , I’ll just have to be patient for a bit longer and see if fortune smiles on me.
    Thank You

  • Mulvaney

Interesting app. I will have to look at it closer

  • http://bermudabluez.blogspot.com bichonpawz

This app looks really neat. Can’t wait for more impressions!

  • France Freeman

I’m liking 645Pro, intrigued to see how ProShot compares.

  • idieuwke

a fast 645 pro quality app, very cool.

  • Gareth

    Thanks for another great giveaway

  • http://zerozero31.tumblr.com zerozero31

I’ve been a huge fan of Mike’s apps. 6×6 and 6×7 get a regular outing during the week, but I’ve never liked 645Pro (sorry). Too clunky, too slow to use.

This however seems like a stripped down version of 645 giving the same quality without all the hassle around it.

I’ve hee-haw chance of winning this giveaway promotion so I went out and bought it anyway.

    So far: i like!

  • Raul Diegues

    I wish I win… I never won nothing through these promotions :D

  • Jackson Mah

Wow! Very promising photo app! I wish I can have one of this :)

    thanks for the review!

  • WitChi

    Looks fantastic!

  • RegiB

This app by the makers of 645Pro really sounds interesting to me because, as reviewed, it may be simpler and more user friendly. I do love 645 Pro to, but getting used to it slows my shooting down. This app may enable me to capture more shots ! Thanks for the promo codes. Hope I win one, thanks!!

  • Aleph

I would LOVE to try this one out!!

  • Bannie

Joining the giveaway! Love this app!

  • Rick Spaulding

“PureShot lets you shoot quality raw images…”
I see you still can’t resist tossing the “RAW” terminology into a description regardless of the simple fact that there is no way to shoot RAW images with an iPhone. Your articles are otherwise very well done. I don’t understand why you insist on trying to sneak the term “RAW” in especially when it involves this particular app developer. I’m guessing you must have a personal interest or stake in this company/developer, namely, Michael Hardaker.

  • http://iphoneographyartisan.com Megan

Would love to give this new app a try!

  • Megan

I would love to win PureShot for my iPhone! Thank you Life in Lofi for the opportunity!!

  • cedric

    great thanks

  • james

    I’d give it a go.

I too can’t understand the difference with 645PRO but the fact that the controls only perform one task each is interesting.

  • John Driggers

I REALLY like your chart showing all the specials.

  • Simon Wagner

    This camera looks very interesting

  • ken walker

The biggest difference between 645 Pro and Pureshot is that the latter works on my iPad2 and iPodTouch4. 645 Pro does not. So it’s great to have most of its
capability available in Pureshot. I also like being able to shoot square images directly. The native iOS Camera app’s photos require cropping in another app to get 1×1 proportions.
