iPad camera replacement apps are optimized for the larger screens of the iPad, making them a better fit than an iPhone-only camera app running on iPad.

ProCam XL shares the great feature set of its iPhone sibling, ProCam for iPhone. It’s a camera-only app — no editing features. It starts with a great, point-and-shoot-like user interface with easy access to all the tools you need.

ProCam XL has separate focus, exposure, and white balance lock. It’s got multiple composition overlay grids. It lets you change the image resolution of your file to better match the file size with where it will be shared — full, high, medium and low resolutions.  You can shoot in multiple aspect ratios — 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, and square format 1:1. you can adjust the JPEG compression quality, letting you choose between file size and image quality.

Most of the App Store ratings are real 5-star reviews. The developers are great and stay on top of new user-requested features.

ProCam XL for iPad is $0.99 in the App Store. It’s an iPad-only app. Check out the iPhone version here. Requirements: Compatible with iPad. Requires iOS 5.1 or later.
