iphoneography, iphone photography, ios, iphone 6

I’m very excited to announce that writer Mel Martin has joined Life In LoFi and will be hanging his shingle here for a while. You may recognize Mel’s byline from TUAW – The Unofficial Apple Weblog where he spent the last six years covering a variety of Mac and iOS-related topics. An experienced landscape and stellar (starry sky) photographer, he will be a great fit here at LoFi and I’m very pleased that Mel is joining us.

As a reader of TUAW from its very early, pre-AOL days, I watched Mel become one of the first writers for a mainstream Apple website to give regular coverage of iPhone photo apps and iPhone photography. Throughout the years, I’ve found Mel’s reviews to be thorough, balanced, and trustworthy — essential qualities for a reviews that readers can rely on. I’ve bought many a photo app based on his recommendations.

Mel is someone who I’ve wanted to have writing for LoFi for years. When TUAW was recently shuttered as part of parent company AOL’s recent restructuring, I reached out. There was very little back and forth before he “happily” agreed to write for us. I’m excited that we are able to make this happen. Here at LoFi, Mel will continue to share his excellent photo app reviews as well as other iPhone photo-related stories.

Mel brings his years of experience covering the Apple community to LoFi. As a reader, I trust Mel’s reviews because I can see that they not only come from a iOS enthusiast’s perspective, but a photographer’s as well. It’s the same perspective that drives Life In LoFi.

I’m excited to blow off the dust and fire up the blog again to continue our coverage of iPhoneography — our truly unique photographic platform. And I’m excited to welcome Mel as part of the team.
