Preorders for the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus start tonight at 12:01 am Pacific Daylight Time. In the past, not getting your preorder in the first hour meant a delay of weeks in getting your new iPhone.
The new iPhone 6S Plus in particular is a sweet bit of technology, with a faster processor, more RAM, and a significantly upgraded 12 megapixel camera. Odds are, preorders will fill up quickly.
Here’s what you need to do right now and the best way to order your new iPhone 6S with minimum frustration, minimum wait, and minimum delay.
Pre-Fill Your Carrier Info Now
New iPhone preorders bring the internet to a crawl. You can save valuable seconds by pre-filling important information in your Apple Store app.
Open the app Apple Store. Tap the blue bar at the top of the screen “Get ready to pre-order iPhone 6S.”
Fill in the required fields and check your eligibility now. The app will run a credit check in the background and let you know which devices and plans your are currently eligible for. Be sure to switch on the Remember Me button.
What takes seconds now could take precious minutes tonight as your carrier’s servers are swamped with thousands of simultaneous requests.
The Best Way to Order an iPhone 6S
In order to get a spiffy new iPhone the first day, it’s important to preorder within the first hour. The sooner you get in, the higher the chances of getting your new iPhone on the day of release.
There are several ways to order your new iPhone 6S tonight — through the Apple Store app, online directly from Apple’s website, and online directly from your carrier. In the past, I’ve had the best luck ordering a new iPhone upgrade in seconds using the Apple Store app on my iPhone. The whole process takes seconds and I don’t believe that tonight will be any different.
At midnight Pacific time tonight, the websites of Apple, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, et al will be swamped, laggy, and slow. In the past, Apple Store app has been quick and responsive, letting me get in there quickly — within the first few minutes — to snag a coveted device.
The first to preorder are the first to receive the new iPhones. When given a choice to have the phone shipped or to pick it up at a store, I suggest having it shipped to your door. In the past, my new iPhones have arrived the day before general release.
You could wait until morning to order in-store at an Apple Store or a carrier store, but by then the wait will probably be a few weeks. If you have to have it soon, I don’t recommend this.
