A Gallery of Facebook iPhone Photo Contest IPC Winners

Robert Buckley, winner of the IPC January 2012, Theme: WILDLIFE

The iPhone Photography Competition (IPC) has been hosted monthly on Facebook since November 2009, making it one of the longest running iPhone photo challenges. Mike Fendt created the contest “as I’m passionate about photography and I love my iPhone!” I’m still an admin of the group as well, but Mike handles the contests and day-to-day business.

Each month brings a new themed contest. Winners are determined by votes. The only prize is bragging rights and the winner gets to choose the next month’s theme. Currently, there are over 1,500 iPhoneographers and users in the group and it’s a diverse mix.

Here’s a gallery of some of the recent monthly winners in the iPhone Photography Competition. Recent monthly winners include Robert Buckley, Hannah Louise Henney, Fiona Christian and Bashar Alaeddin, To enter this month’s contest which is “Live Music”, simply head over to the page and submit.

It’s Follow Friday – Follow Life In LoFi on Facebook, Twitter and G+

In the spirit of #FF Follow Friday on Twitter, I’d like to invite you to also follow Life In LoFi on our other social media channels. Here’s where and why….

Facebook

Like Life In LoFi’s Facebook page. We post a lot more app sales, freebies and giveaways on Facebook than we do on the blog. These are often sales and freebies that happen pretty fast. If you’re concerned about Wall clutter, we don’t post nearly as often as Mashable does….

Twitter

Follow @LifeInLoFiBlog on Twitter. Find out as soon as new blog posts hit. Have conversations with me and other iPhoneographers 140 characters at a time. I also share cool links there  that I find around the web.

Google+

Follow us on Google+ for notifications when new blog posts go live. Interact with other iPhoneographers who respond and share on Google+. Like Facebook, we also post news of app sales and discounts that don’t always appear on the blog.

Life In LoFi on Flipboard

Flipboard

Life In LoFi is featured content on Flipboard. If you aren’t familiar with the app, Flipboard collects all the things you like to read on the web and and creates a personalized magazine experience for iPhone, iPad and other devices. It’s a free download.

To add Life In LoFi to your Flipboard, from the homescreen click the search button at the top. Scroll down to Photos & Design and select the “+” to add the “iPhoneography (The art of the iPhone)” section. Life In LoFi also shares this tab with Instagram and tap tap tap’s blogs.

Flickr

Life In LoFi is on Flickr as well. Each week, over a thousand images are submitted to the group. Share yours and they may be selected for our weekly Faved On Flickr showcase.

However you get your LoFi fix, I thank you for reading Life In LoFi.

New Path Update Fixes iPhone Address Book Issue

In the social photo app arena, millions of you use Instagram. There are also a large number who choose Path to share photos with family and friends.

Recently, several websites including AppleInsider reported on a bug in Path originally uncovered by developer Arun Thampi in which the app uploaded the entire contents of your iPhone’s address book to its servers. Version 2.0.6 has just been released. The app’s two What’s New items are bug fixes and “enhanced contacts privacy.” The address book upload has been removed and Path’s CEO Dave Morin has also issued an apology on the app’s blog.

iPhone App Review: Paint FX

Paint FX
Version reviewed: 2.1
Price: $1.99

Rating 2.5 stars

Bottom Line: I think Paint FX is okay. It’s unique workflow is offset by several annoying glitches.

Paint FX by Sprite Labs was recently updated to version 2.1. The name suggests that it’s a paint program. It has a few paint-like effects, but it’s really more of a photo effects app that lets you “paint in” effects. Although it has plenty of standard color and overlay effects, the app’s painting and layering workflow is different and and what sets it apart from most photo apps.

While it has a lot of cool features, Paint FX has a few annoyances that keep it from being a great app for me.

Filterstorm 4.1 Update Adds More Photoshop-like Tools

New Filterstorm 3 iconiPhone image editing app Filterstorm is already one of the most powerful photo apps in the App Store. One of the things that I like about the app is how its interface was redesigned to take advantage of the iPhone’s limited screen real estate. Although there have been a number of other image editing apps released or improved, I still think that Filterstorm sets the standard and redefines how image editing apps should work on the iOS platform. You can read my full review of Filterstorm 3 here.

Filterstorm 4.1 was recently released. Although this is a .1 version update, it adds some powerful new tools to the app, as well as new social network sharing.
