Call For Entries: Open to Interpretation

I just received a themed call for photos for this interesting project. Open to Interpretation is a juried book competition of photography, poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction. The project feeds off of and is inspired by the photography that’s selected. The call is for all photographers, not just iPhoneographers, but it’s nice to see the recognition of the outstanding works being created by iPhone photographers.

Call For Entries: Two Upcoming Hipstamatic Shows

Photo courtesy of Vegas from the Hip

Honestly, this isn’t a Hipstamatic blog. There’s just a whole lot of things happening in HipstaLand recently. Here are two more to add to the mix — a call for entries for two cool upcoming Hipstamatic brick-and-mortar shows. One is a very cool exhibition in and about Las Vegas. I wish I’d have know about this three weeks ago when we were staying on Fremont Street.

Both call for entries is going out globally and there are no entry fees for submission to either show. No word on whether prints will be sold, for how much, and how proceeds (if any) will be distributed to the artists.

eyephoneography Madrid. What happened.

eyephoneography, The Hub, Madrid, SpainEarlier this year in September, Madrid, Spain hosted its first iPhone photography exhibition, eyephoneography #1, at an artist’s collective called The Hub-Madrid. The show was unexpectedly suspended after the photographs were taken down, damaged or destroyed. The show was vandalized.

Few details were released while this was under investigation. Marco La Civita, one of the artists featured in the show and who has close ties to the organizers of eyephoneography, has broken the silence and released a little bit of information about the events of last September. It’s a short read, but it’s an insight into some of the political gamesmanship that occurs in the art world.
