tap tap tap’s Camera+ is often the top-selling photo app for a reason. It’s a powerful, full-featured, all-in-one camera replacement app and tap tap tap always seem to add cool new features that we didn’t even know we needed… always raising the bar for camera replacement apps.

The new 2.2.1 update is out now. While mostly a bux fix and performance tweak update, they still managed to add a cool new feature that none of the other major camera apps have. You can now share your photos by text message — SMS — from within the app.

Bottom Line: Camera+ is one of the two best camera replacement apps available. The 2.0 update improves this great app even more. Very highly recommended.

In one of the biggest iPhoneography stories of 2010, after a 4-month hiatus because of the VolumeSnap issue, the excellent, sought after photo app Camera+ by tap tap tap is back in the App Store. Apparently a lot of users missed the app. After one day back, it’s once again the #1 photo app and the #9 paid app overall in the App Store.

With the tremendous improvements in the recent ProCamera updates, along with the frustration among the user base concerning tap tap tap’s silence on the app, the return of Camera+ really had to hit it out of the park. This update does that. Everything that was good in the previous version is the same or improved. And there’s a whole lot of better that’s been added in.

UPDATE: Based on Dean’s comment below, at 10:40: am CDT, I deleted and redownloaded Camera+ to my iPhone 2G, where I had NOT previously performed this feature unlock. Sure enough, the unlock didn’t work on this newly downloaded copy of Camera+. The app still says version 1.2.1. It may be because the “exploit” has already been closed and a revised version of Camera+ has quietly been uploaded to the App Store — that was fast. Or, perhaps the hack doesn’t work on an iPhone 2G. I’m still able to use VolumeSnap on my iPhone 4 where I’d applied the hack on an installed copy.

Purchase, update or reinstall Camera+ at your own discretion. At this point, the hack may not work with the app. Or it simply may not work with your device.

Bottom Line: Just about perfect. There is a useless delay when using anti-shake stabilization. Still, it’s one of the best camera replacement apps currently available on any mobile phone platform.

The iPhone’s camera is basic, but good. To take the iPhone to the next level camera-wise, consider a camera replacement app.

Camera+ is a full-featured camera replacement app from tap tap tap. Version 1.0 started off as a very good camera app — not worth the hype, in my opinion. Subsequent updates have addressed every single issue I’ve had with this app. Camera+ is now one of the best camera replacement apps for any iPhone that’s currently available — 2G through 4 running iPhone OS 3.1 or newer.

Camera+ by tap tap tap has been updated to version 1.2 and this is the update we’ve been waiting for. This is a huge update for the app — more than its incremental .1 upgrade implies. Version 1.2 really is the “ultimate photo app”.
