A sneak peak at the upcoming Warhol: DIY POP silkscreen printing app!

Here’s a cool new app on the horizon. The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA is putting the finishing touches on a new iPhone app which recreates the style of Warhol’s colorful, high contrast classic screen prints.

According to a post on their Facebook page, the app will be just for iPhone right now, but they have plans for Android and iPad versions “in the not-so-distant future.”

There are currently other apps available which create Pop Art effects similar to Andy Warhol’s, but this app is created by the museum, which will not only add credibility to the app, but hopefully this will ensure than the quality of the app will be up to snuff in order to protect the Warhol “brand”.

The app also features photos by former Dallas and current Pittsburgh photographer Ange Fitzgerald, although I’m not sure in what context. Ange was one of the organizers behind this summer’s HipShootOut — one of Dallas’ first iPhone photography exhibits.

Pricing and specs haven’t been announced yet. We’ll keep you posted. Look for the app soon.
