There’s a reason I recommend FX Photo Studio so highly. It’s an easy to use yet powerful app with a broad range of effects. There are effects for everyone from the casual user who just wants to easily add something fun to a photo before sharing to Facebook or Instagram to the more serious iPhoneographer who also demands the ability to adjust the parameters of their production. The developer is great and is always adding new, powerful features.
The 4.5 update of FX Photo Studio was just released. It adds a few new features and bug fixes, including text labels with multiple fonts. Most importantly, the app now supports full 8 megapixel resolution of the iPhone 4S. Up till now, it had downsampled images back to the 5 MP resolution of the iPhone 4. All this, and it’s one of few good apps that will still run on an old iPhone 2G or 3G. The latest versions of Instagram don’t even do that any more.
FX Photo Studio is normally $1.99 in the App Store. Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 3.0 or later.
