Pudding Camera 2.0 Update Is Out. New English Version.

Submitted by on February 15, 2012 – 11:36 am10 Comments

Pudding Camera is one of the most popular free apps on the iPhone. Last year, it made our list of the “The Ten Best FREE iPhone Photo Apps.” and will still be on there when we update the list this year. It’s a quirky, fun toy camera app.

The new 2.0.0 update is out. Among other changes in the update, Pudding Camera just got a little less quirky. Click past the jump to find out why. >>>

Pudding Camera now comes in a completely English version, which was probably its most requested feature. It’s even been renamed on your iPhone from Korean to PuddingCam. No other changes have been made to Pudding Camera’s basic and very functional interface. There’s even an extensive, searchable online help buried in the app’s settings. Although much of the interface was already in English, the app’s settings should be a little easier to use now for many users.

This version of Pudding Camera also gets a new lens, “Triplex” which creates a funky, curved triple exposure three-framed kinda smiley-looking image. The screen now also displays a countdown timer when using any of the multiple exposure lenses. The app now shares to directly Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr. Sharing is easily set up for the three in the Settings panel. There’s also a built-in hook to save to the new app in the Pudding family, Pudding.to which is a front-end to Pudding Camera’s new Instagram-like social network. And the icon got a slight makeover.

Pudding Camera is still free and still has no ads. It still saves at a maximum of 1280×1280, which is still bigger than many commercial apps that are released. iPhoneographers can still get usable enlargements up to about 8″ x 8″ or larger. The app now requires iOS 4.2 or later.

TIP: Every time Pudding Camera is updated, Image Size settings reset. When updating the app, be sure to go to your settings and check that Size is set to 1280px. You can also turn on Geo tagging there.

Pudding Camera is one of the App Store’s great finds. I’ll miss the quirkiness of the older versions, but many users will be very happy with this update.

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch (4th generation), iPad 2 Wi-Fi, and iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G.Requires iOS 4.2 or later. Pudding Camera is also available for Android.
