The Mobile Photo Awards — also known as The MPAs — are now accepting entries for new $3000 prize for MPA Photographer of the Year. The second annual edition underway.

The Mobile Photo Awards have announced that the second annual awards are now open for submissions through December 15, 2012. The world’s largest exhibited open call for entries/competition is also pleased to note that a Grand Prize of $3,000 will be awarded to the MPA Photographer of the Year, making the MPA award the biggest of it’s kind. The competition was designed to celebrate and focus attention on the explosive growth of mobile-phone photography and art. The winning 23 entries and runners-up, will again be part of a gallery and exhibit tour. Hot on the heels of the success of the Spring MPA 2012 shows in San Francisco and Los Angeles, the second edition of the MPA will also bring nearly 60 images to galleries in the USA and Canada with more to announced shortly.

“With the MPA we continue to give mobile photographers and artists the chance to take their creativity further and show the art world and public just how inspiring these images can be,” said Daniel Berman, founder of the Mobile Photo Awards and a noted mobile photographer known as Reservoir_Dan. “We set records earlier this year for fine art prices paid for limited edition prints – we made some artists and collectors really happy and we are excited to continue the mission of providing this unique opportunity and exposure for the artists working in this medium.”

Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, and adherence to the contest theme. The jury is comprised of celebrated mobile photographers and members of the iPhoneography media including, among others, Marty Yawnick of LifeinLofi, Glyn Evans of iPhoneography.com, noted stock and travel photographer Jack Hollingsworth, Street Photography blogging legend Eric Kim and Mobile Photo Group founding member Misho Baranovic. Returning jury members include all-star mobile photographers Robert-Paul Jansen and Andy Royston. For a complete list of the jury please visit www.mobilephotoawards.com/categories
