Once again, I get to share with you more great iPhone photography. Here is Life In LoFi’s regular Sunday showcase, Faved On Flickr for December 11. New and established iPhoneographers continue to share their great mobile photography in the Life In LoFi group on Flickr. All of the artwork is shot (or otherwise created) and processed on an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.
There are a lot of cool images this week. Click past the jump for more in this week’s gallery. >>>
One of the things I love about selecting the images for this showcase is seeing all the different directions that iPhone photography goes. Because of its convenience, the iPhone is a perfect camera for capturing everyday moments that are often overlooked, whether they be candids, street photography, snapshots, etc. However, it also amazes me to see how iPhoneographers are shooting in the studio or under otherwise controlled conditions. Or how they are pushing production on their phones to enhance their photographs, changing or enhancing a mood or using the base photo to create something completely different and abstract. It’s the art of apping.
Two of the images this week have great lines and perspective. Jim Darling’s lead image, “Greg in Adams Morgan” is an intimate photo with great minimal processing. Not only does it have great lines and textures, but the capture itself is perfect. Not a portrait — just a great moment, like the viewer has just walked into the middle of the conversation. “public holiday” by librarymook not only makes excellent use of the the archways, but of the light and shadows as well.
Igor Phomin shares some excellent iPhoneography — not all of it is safe for work. Seek out his glamour photography (NSFW). This week, we’ve got some selections from a short series of portraits he also submitted. Using a great model, Igor has captured a range of expressions.
Eizabeth Grilli’s “Keeper of Secrets” is ghostly and haunting. “Don’t Shut Me Out ‘Cause I’m Different” by Sxethang is a powerful and disturbing abstract.
“Dr Mabuse needs new glasses…” by Elisabeth Redlig is an excellent triptych — a playful photo with great contrast and geometry.
Other great photography this week comes from Dixon Hamby, Jaime Ferreyros, Clint Cline, Jennifer Bracewell, Chris Harland, Souichi Furusho, Andrew Lucchesi, and many others.
Links go back to the iPhonegrapher’s Flickr photostream. I encourage you to follow the links and discover new iPhoneographers whose work catches your eye.
Submissions are open to everyone with an iDevice and a Flickr account. All you have to do is join Life In LoFi on Flickr, post, and keep submitting these great images. On Sundays, we feature a brand new showcase.
I hope you enjoy today’s set. As always, many thanks to all of the iPhoneographers who post and share their outstanding photography.
