gyroCam — the camera app by Hunter Research and Technology — gets its name by using the gyro (iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4th generation) and accelerometer (iPhone 3G and 3GS) to correctly and automatically frame a level shot from any scene. Choose from clip and mask modes that cut out the level frame, or fill mode which zooms the level frame back to full size. It’s a good camera app for quickly and automatically taking level photos at full-resolution.

Tania Palmer from The Amateur iPhoneographer blog (another good resource for iPhone app reviews) has some extra promo codes and is sharing them with Life In LoFi. Want a free copy of gyroCam? Click past the jump to find out how to get one.

We are giving away free promo codes for gyroCam to three random readers who request one in this post’s comments. To win, request a code in the comments below. You can comment as many times as you like, but only your first comment will count. Cut-off time to enter is 12:00 Noon Central Time tomorrow, Sunday, February 27, 2011. Winners will be determined by random selection.

This is for the full version of gyroCam, not a feature limited Lite version. Promo codes now work worldwide. Yay! One code per reader, please. Be sure to include a valid email address.

I have not used the app, but The Amateur iPhoneographer’s Tania Palmer says that “the app is pretty good, stable and it does exactly what the developer says it does.” I’ve seen photos taken with the app and they are sharp, level, and full-resolution.

In addition to gyro capabilities, gyroCam is also a full-featured camera app, offering the following:

• Small, large, burst, and timer shot modes
• Manual tap-to-focus and exposure (iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4)
• Focus and exposure activity indicators
• Front camera (iPhone 4 and iPod 4) and rear camera
• Flash on/off/auto (iPhone 4)
• 1X, 2X, 4X zoom
• Portrait and landscape reference frames
• Gyro clip, fill, off modes
• Fast buffered image saves
• camera and location EXIF metadata

gyroCam is compatible with iPhone and iPod touch (4th generation). Requires iOS 4.1 or later.. It normally sells for $0.99 in the App Store.
