Judging

Enter your iPhone photography at the official contest Facebook page.

The theme of the contest is “Shades of Summer.” You can be as broad in your interpretation of the summer theme as you want. All we ask is that your images are shot and processed using only an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or other camera phone.

Our panel of judges will pick the top 5 finalists, then you get to vote for the winner. In addition, all images will be eligible to win the People’s Choice vote.

Head over to the official Life In LoFi/CanvasPop “Shades of Summer” LoFi Photo Contest Facebook page for more information and to enter.

Why CanvasPop?

When CanvasPop approached me about doing this promotion together, I first looked into the company before even contacting them back. I then spoke with them to see if this would be a good fit. One of the many things that struck me about CanvasPop is their production process. Images are tweaked and processed for maximum color and image quality by a real-life technician before output. I mentioned the relative low-res output of camera phones — no longer really a problem on the iPhone any more unless you’re using Instagram. Turns out CanvasPop has a super-secret algorithm that they use to get the best possible quality from any image.

There are a lot of options for enlarging and printing images. The guys from CanvasPop take as much pride in their output as we do in our photography. CanvasPop produces a great way to share and display your art.

I think it’s a good fit for this contest. I know y’all will create some great looking art. CanvasPop provides a great way to display it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ncorsalini Nicholas Corsalini

What is max dimensions an iPhone photo can be blown up?( In inches )

      Hi, Nick,

Check out this post I did on iPhone prints a while back:

That said, that's not the case here. CanvasPop have proprietary techniques that they wouldn't share with me on how they tweak lower resolution images for enlargement and printing on canvas. Naturally, they can't create detail where there is none, but they can do some magic that mere mortals cant. It's one of the reasons I partnered with CanvasPop for this contest.

We don't really have a max size, it all depends on the resolution of the photo — iPhones are actually getting pretty good in that regard.

That said, if the resolution is low we have a variety of ways to enhance your photo for canvas printing, we specialize in low-resolution printing.

The best thing to do is contact us, we can help with a photo of any size, resolution or source (even physical photos that need to be scanned).

  • Luxtra

Is there a limit to number entered, i.e., just one? And apping is okay?

    • http://lifeinlofi.com lifeinlofiblog

      Hi, Luxtra!

Enter as many times as you'd like, but only one image will be able to win. Apping is not only okay, it's encouraged as well!

I doesn't seem that you can enter as many times as you like, as once I uploaded an image I was unable to upload another one, states that I have already entered the contest. Do you think this was an error? Might have uploaded a different image if I had known….

  • http://twitter.com/falsedigital @falsedigital

Awesome! I've been lurking on this site for a couple months now. Excited to finally participate in something. :]

  • http://hollysissonphotography.com Holly

When you say North America, does that include Canada for entry?

  • MattBurlem

Bah! I just entered it and then realised it's only for people in USA!

    BAH!

  • Jay

Too bad Summer just started the 21st.
