[UPDATE: From developer Renzo Verleysen, there was an issue with Apple’s price change automation system. The free promotion has been reset manually and should show up as free in the App Store in a few minutes. FlashPhix 2 should be free for another 24 hours, until about 2:00 PM CDT on Monday, November 1. =M= ]
FlashPhix 2 by Phoenxsoftware is FREE for the next day or so in the App Store. It’s one of the many exposure enhancement apps that were developed to compensate for the older iPhone’s lack of a hardware flash. I think this is one of the better ones. The app normally sells for $0.99.
This promotion is for the full version of FlashPhix 2, not the feature-limited Lite version. FlashPhix is from the developers of MonoPhix — an app we highly recommend here on the blog.
While not a full-blown Dynamic Range Correction (DRC) app like Perfectly Clear, FlashPhix helps to compensate for older iPhones’ lack of a hardware flash and sometimes flat, gray cast. It helps to enhance the color, brightness, and contrast of your images. FlashPhix 2 has three modes for correcting your images — overall correction, separate RGB correction, and a “Magic” button that performs corrections automatically.
Owners of the iPhone 4 and it’s greatly improved camera may not need this app, but for free, this is a good download for owners of iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS and owners of the new iPod Touch 4th Gen. In addition to the free download, you get into the upgrade path.
FlashPhix 2 works on any iDevice running iOS 3.0 or newer. It supports your device’s full resolution — I tested it on my 4 and got 5MP images.
This reduction is for Halloween weekend only so grab it now!
