The new Instagram 1.6 update is out and is buggy and crashy. Consider waiting until the next update is released which will hopefully fix the widely reported installation problems and stability issues.

Halftone is the app from Juicy bits that recreates the pulpy, aged, halftone feel of old comic books. Even before this update, it was probably the best app for recreating pulpy, comic book-style images. The app is free right now in the App Store.

I know Marty hates rumors, but there’s evidence in the official ShakeItPhoto Facebook page and the Flickr Stream of Banana Camera Co’s Alexia Brown to support this. The latest update to popular instant camera app ShakeItPhoto, which is currently awaiting Apple approval, will feature a revised border much more reminiscent of the traditional Polaroid border.
Unlike ShakeItPhoto’s current border, it appears the new border features a much larger bottom area, reminiscent of what you’d get right out of a good old SX-70 (I’m thinking LabelBox might get some solid mileage out of this change in my own photography, I can’t resist the opportunity for a sassy aside). If you take a close look at the bottom area, though, there’s a noticeable line right about where the older border would have ended, which makes me wonder if the new one was simply clone-stamped into new dimensions.

Rather than apply retro or vintage effects to an image, Decim8, the iPhone app for photo destruction, is a well-done modernist photo app. It pixelizes, distorts, saturates, inverts your images. In short, it decimates them.
The 2.0 update for Decim8 was released recently. It’s a solid update and has a number of new effects and improvements.

eyephoneography #2 opens in Madrid today, April 15th and runs through May 29th, 2011.
The work of Matt Burrows, ©arlein, Stefano Giogli and Jordi V. Pou will be featured in this second edition and will inspire off- and on-line debates culminating in an in-person series of talks during the opening weekend.
