qbro is a full-featured square format photo app with a pretty good set of tools. It’s got separate focus and exposure, white balance lock, zoom, self-timer, Big Button full-screen shutter release, and many other features. We’ve been covering it often here. Recent updates have made the app really good.

The new qbro version 3.3.0 update is another in a long line of good updates for this app.

A lot of people use qbro as an Instagram companion where they process in qbro and import to Instagram. With it’s square format and excellent and growing set of filters and effects, qbro is definitely an app that would be a perfect fit for new direct-to-Instagram features many apps are implementing. That feature isn’t in this update, but hopefully it will be added soon.

qbro version 3.3.0 is in the App Store now. The update features 9 new film effects in addition to the dozens already available. qbro now also let’s you auto-save both your original and your edited photo to your camera roll.

The previous 3.0 update also added separate focus and exposure tap controls which are responsive and super easy to use. A double-tap anywhere on the screen restores Auto-Focus. Version 3.0 also added a white balance lock and also changed nine of the premium filters to free, standard gear.

It’s not Cameramatic-powerful, but qbro has a ton of filters and they’re all one-click easy. One of the great features about qbro has always been its ability to easily customize the filter presets displayed so you can remove filters you’d never use and declutter the interface. The nice thing about processing first in qbro is that your finished images save in full resolution before you upload to Instagram. qbro is worth a look if you like square format and easy.

qbro is $1.99. Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch (4th generation), iPad 2 Wi-Fi, and iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G. Requires iOS 4.1 or later.
