Repix has just been released. It’s a cool app for applying effects to an image. Rather than apply overall effects, you paint in the effects. You can use Repix to create some interesting effects mashups.

repix for iphone and ipadI’ll have my full review of the app soon. I was a beta tester for the app and it’s not only easy to use, easy to figure out, but pretty fun to use and explore. Don’t like what you’ve done? The Eraser tool makes it easy to remove any effects and there’s even a more nuclear option with the Undoer too. It’s a good workflow that makes it easy to paint, explore, and more importantly re-do if needed.

The basic app is FREE and comes nicely stocked with several free effects. Here’s a listing of the free and add-on effects, available as an in-app purchase:

1. Cartoonize
2. Charcoal
3. Edger
4. Dotter
5. Flares
6. Drips
7. Posterize
8. Silk
9. Bleach
10. Undoer (not a real brush)
11. Eraser

There’s plenty you can do out of the box with Repix and the free filters is where I tend to spend most of my time with the app, but the in-app purchases have several nice options as well.
