Bart McLeroy’s More Adventures in Hipstaland

By Bart McLeroy, Guest contributor to Life In LoFi

Hipstamatic has a running feature on their Facebook page called “Adventures in Hipstaland”. One photographer picks 9 Hipstamatic shots to represent a particular place. Many of the “interesting” places I’ve been or will be visiting soon (Brussels, Hong Kong, London, Washington DC) have already been done, but when planning a trip to Belgium that would include a day in Bruges, I contacted the Hipstamatic team to see if they would be interested in seeing some of my pictures, and they responded positively. Picking 9 Hipstamatic shots out of the 36 or so that I took that day was difficult to say the least, so I’m glad to be able to show more of them here.

When I’m not writing for Life In LoFi or graphic designing at my day job, I also run the iPhone Photography Competition (IPC) page on Facebook. Every month, iPhoneographers submit photos based on a chosen theme. The theme for March was “Magic Hour” – sunset photos shot and apped using only an iPhone or iPod Touch. iPhoneographer Lindsey Thompson was the first runner-up with her excellent and ethereal photo, “Shadows Walking,” shown above.

iPhoneography Showcase: “Appstractions” by Reservoir Dan

Appstraction by Daniel Berman

iPhoneographer Daniel Berman is best known as Reservoir Dan and for his dreamlike landscape photography, especially the countryside around his home near Toronto, Canada. Daniel Berman’s Appstractions series is a complete 180 from his other recent work.

Here, Dan shares with us a few pieces of his abstracts. He talks candidly about the origins of the project and shares his toolbox for creating them.
