Nick Campbell’s Banana Camera Company is planning on shaking up the venerable instant camera app, ShakeItPhoto. According to a recent post to the BCC blog:
We are currently working on a big update for ShakeItPhoto that will include full rez processing, EXIF/GEO data, sharing options, and of course, a new sexy icon for the retina display.
I may have embellished this image just a little for this post....

Cult of Mac is reporting that the long-delayed white iPhone 4 is being delayed not because of mismatched home buttons, light leaking from the case, or antenna issues, but because of light leaks within the camera. You can read their whole story by clicking here.
The new version of CameraTAN was released recently. Version 3.0 actually has more improvements than listed in the official App Store description. A more detailed description of the updates, additions and bug fixes is on the MorokoshiMan website.
Our tweaked translation of the 3.0 update description is past the jump:
Slow Shutter Cam by Cogitap Software is an app that simulates control over exposure and shutter speed. The long exposures and slow shutter effect can be used to compensate for low-light situations. It does not actually change the shutter speed of the iPhone’s camera, which is fixed. Through software magic, it mimics the camera effects available with a variable shutter.
The 1.3 update was just released and it addresses, quite nicely, some of few problems I had with the app.
When I’m not writing Life In LoFi, my day job (and often evening job…) is a graphic designer. I’m very intrigued by the new iPhone/iPad app, Phoster by Bucket Labs. Without experience or InDesign, you can now create pretty cool looking flyers on your iPhone. This truly expands the potential of the iDevice.
ColorRight for iPhone is on sale now for a limited time for $0.99. It normally goes for $4.99 – that’s 80% off. It claims to be a custom white balance solution for iPhone, which would be cool, but in most instances it didn’t really work well for me without the additional $39 add-on iBal filter. ProCamera’s white balance lock works much better for me. For a buck, though, ColorRight might be worth a look for future updates.
Best Camera is one of the classic iPhoneography apps. It’s the app created with photographer Chase Jarvis, who popularized the iPhoneographer’s mantra “The best camera is the one that’s with you. The app finally got an update recently. It gets a few new features and compatibility for new iDevices, including the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch, but the new 1.3 version is really more a compatibility update than one really blows you away with new, must-have features.
It started last week with a bot attack on the website and after a few emails with my previous webhost about my account being suspended for a long time if usage spiked again (I plan on usage going up through natural growth), and the suggestion that I convert the blog from a WordPress blog to a straight html site and a few misfires from LoFi’s webmaster (that would be me) along the way.
The move to DreamHost is complete. Our servers are much more robust, faster and scalable. As the blog continues to grow, our new server on DreamHost will be able to grow with us. I’ve already noticed a visible increase in page load times and overall site response.
Thank you for your patience during the move. Let’s get back to shooting.
Life In LoFi has outgrown our previous web hosting service and is in the process of migrating to DreamHost tonight. For those of you who’ve ever moved a WordPress installation before, you already know how much fun I’ve been having the past day or so (just about zero for those who haven’t).
For the next 12 hours or so from Thursday night at 11:30 PM through 12:00 noon, Friday, October 1st, there may be some weirdness as the change to the new server propagates down throughout the web. There may be a few glitches afterwards and we’ll get them fixed as soon as we find them. Please bear with us. We’ll be back up to speed — faster and more stable, actually — in no time.
Thank you for your patience.
UPDATE 10.01.10 @ 00:54: It looks like the changes for the blog database are taking longer than other parts of the blog. There may be a lot of broken links until this is settled or resolved. I’m keeping an eye on this. My apologies for the inconvenience.
ClearCam 1.7 was released recently. The update builds upon the new features of previous updates. ClearCam promises clearer, sharper, and sometimes larger images from any iPhone. The new update opens up the app’s image enhancement capabilities for the new iPod Touch 4th Gen.
