UPDATE 02.11.12: Updated with new app sates for Camera Genius and Magic Hour apps. =M=
This weekend before Valentine’s Day, there are tons of sweet deals in the App Store, both deep discounts and freebies. Instant110, Camera Genius, Photoforge2, Paint FX, ClassicPAN and others are FREE or on sale right now. These are for the full versions of each app and these deals won’t last long.
The popular ClassicCAMERA apps from misskiwi are on sale now for a limited time. ClassicPAN, ClassicSAMP, and ClassicINSTA are all on sale right now for $0.99 each — a savings of $1.00 for each app.
Each of these apps feature the excellent set of authentic looking ClassicCAMERA retro analog film filters. Each app recreates a different style of toy camera. ClassicSAMP recreates several different plastic multi-shot cameras. ClassicINSTA replicates the style of analog instant photographs. And ClassicPAN is a great single-shot panorama camera app which recently got a great new SprocketRocket-like effect.
These are the siblings to the popular and highly recommended ClassicTOY app. The last time misskiwi’s ClassicCAMERA apps went on sale, it was for a very limited time and they went back to their regular price very quickly. If you’re missing any in the set, this is a great chance to grab them now before the price goes back up.
Ever heard of the Sprocket Rocket? It’s a sweet little panoramic 35mm camera from Lomography.com that features a super-wide panoramic lens and, of course, sprockets! It’s a LOMO effect that has previously been unavailable on iPhone… until now.
The ClassicPAN 5.1.0 update from misskiwi has just been released. It contains two new films and a new lens — the FrameRocket. The Sprocket Rocket-style effect is now available for iPhone.
Two of the excellent ClassicCAMERA apps from misskiwi were updated this week. ClassicTOY and ClassicPAN were both updated. ClassicPAN got some performance improvements and minor enhancements. ClassicTOY also got some really cool new features! Both apps now require iOS 4.1 or later. They no longer support iOS 3.
While not too busy a day, yesterday saw some pretty big updates for a couple of apps that we like a lot here: ClassicPAN, PhotoWizard-Editor, and Spica. It was a mixed bag as far as the depth of the updates, but all three are good apps and all three got improvements. The Iris Photo Suite 1.2 update was also released, just as we were going to press with this post. Here’s the wrap up….
Update 03.25.10 11:09 PM CDT: Busy day here for free stuff…. That’s it! All the ClassicPAN promo codes have been given out. Stay tuned for other promo code giveaways. =M=

ClassicPAN is getting a new update soon. You can read our review of the the current version here. It’s older sibling of another misskiwi app that we like a lot, ClassicTOY. Both are camera apps with very nice analog and vintage filters.
To get you ready for the update, Life In LoFi has some free promo codes to give away. I’ll send one promo code to each of the first 12 readers who request one. Hit me up on Twitter/@MartyNearDFW, send me an email, or simply ask for one in the comments section here. One code per reader, please.
These codes work in the U.S. App Store only. They’ll only be valid until the update is released, so redeem them quickly.

If you don’t get one of the free codes, ClassicPan is only $0.99 USD . (App Store link)
Many thanks to misskiwi for providing Life In LoFi with these free ClassicPAN promo codes!
ClassicTOY – Plastic Toy Camera
Version 1.0 Price: Free, plus a 99¢ in-app purchase
Bottom Line: Very nice! The same great filters as ClassicPAN in a more versatile 3:2 frame.
ClassicTOY
ClassicTOY – Plastic Toy Camera is the latest camera app from misskiwi. Drawing from the filters of ClassicPAN which we’ve previously reviewed and liked very much, ClassicTOY is another app that applies analog and other vintage filter effects to your images. ClassicTOY presents these effects in a standard 3:2 aspect ratio — a common standard for 35mm film and many DSLR cameras.
Overall, I think the presentation and implementation of the filters in ClassicTOY exceeds that of misskiwi’s previous apps. If you like the filter set of ClassicPAN — whether or not you cared for the wide aspect ratio — you will like ClassicTOY.
Recently, a ClassicPan update was released adding new features and fixing a couple of old ones. You can read our updated review here. ClassicPan is now a one-of-a-kind app that produces some unique photos.

Update 3:07 PM CST: Wow! Those went fast! We have given away all of the promo codes we have for this update of ClassicPan, but check back often or keep tabs on us on Twitter (@MartyNearDFW) for future promo code giveaways. Thanks!
ClassicPan is a vintage-style panoramic camera app from misskiwi. I recently reviewed version 1.0.1 of the app. ClassicPan has been updated to version 1.0.3, currently available in the App Store, and it is a great update. Not only does it fix the two biggest issues I had with the app, but it adds two new film modes and some minor UI tweaks.
ClassicPan now supports higher resolutions. It now gives the option to save at 1530 x 680 pixels. While not full resolution for any iPhone, this is most certainly usable. The higher resolution also helps improve the details of the vintage filters.
