Right now, there are several cool photo apps on sale in the App Store. This is probably the largest bunch of major apps on sale at the same time that I’ve ever seen.
This is an excellent chance to fill in gaps in your iPhone’s Camera Bag. We’ve listed the end dates of the sales if we have them. Others, if the dates aren’t there, they probably won’t be on sale for long — possibly only hours. Some of the prices on these apps are about as low as you’ll see — especially FX Photo Studio and AutoStitch Panorama, so if you’ve been thinking about these, grab them now before prices go back up.

My friends and I don’t celebrate birthdays. We celebrate birthdays. We’ve sometimes milked our bashes for week.
It’s the anniversary of Life In LoFi this week. Thursday, actually. I’ve got a thoughtful, retrospective post planned for then. I hope I can get the words in the post to sound as good as they do in my head right now.
This isn’t a plea for gifts and presents (although they are always welcome. Does Shiner Bock have gift cards?). In fact, I’m going to celebrate by giving away to you a ton of stuff this week. I’ve got promo codes and other cool stuff to give away this week here on the blog and on the Life In LoFi Facebook page.
I really love writing and publishing this blog. I love that I can give back to the iPhoneography community and that you all share so much here. I really do appreciate every one of you who reads, who comments, who discusses, who challenges. Thank you.
I’d buy a round for you all if I could, but there are federal laws that say I can’t do that. Instead, let me give you stuff here and I’ll buy a round of your beverage of choice when I’m in your city.
Ooops! It looks like on Sunday, the 1.6 update for ClearCam by Occipital was released a few days earlier than expected. Because many of its new features are iOS 4.1 only, the app is on sale for $0.99 until the iPhone iOS 4.1 update is released in about a day or two. ClearCam normally sells for $1.99 — this sale is for 50% off.
In the new iOS 4.1, the 1.6 update now works on the older iPhone 3G. It also has new Camera Roll Places support which saves and image’s EXIF and GPS location data to the iPhone’s camera roll.
Other improvement and fixes include better stability, improved algorithms in Enhanced Mode and a promised bug fix for the camera roll rotation problem.
We recently reviewed the previous version of ClearCam and highly recommend it, giving it four out of five stars. In both of its modes, ClearCam produces simply amazing photos rich in clarity and detail. There is nothing else like it in the App Store.
It won’t be on sale for long — maybe a day or two, so grab it quickly.

Version 1.5.5 Price: $1.99
Bottom Line: ClearCam definitely delivers on its claims of sharper, clearer larger images.
ClearCam by Occipital is a camera app that promises clearer, sharper and sometimes larger images from any iPhone. It claims to eliminate the blur without “missing the moment”. It does so without waiting for an anti-shake setting to kick in. It claims to take clearer, sharper pictures with twice the resolution in enhanced mode.
ClearCam makes a lot of big claims. Does it deliver on them? The answer is a resounding yes. ClearCam produces simply amazing photos rich in clarity and detail. There is nothing else like it in the App Store.
UPDATE: All of the free promo codes have been given away. Stay tuned… we’ve got more more stuff to give away soon.
I’ve used and liked ClearCam for a long time. Those of you with jailbroken iPhones may remember ClearCam from Cydia. This is the same app, available with all the functionality of the old version. In fact, the App Store version of ClearCam works better than its jailbroken predecessor. It does everything the old version did but is faster and much more stable. With the new camera, it rocks on an iPhone 4.
ClearCam for iPhone is on sale for $0.99 – that’s half off the $1.99 it normally goes for and a huge $7 off what some of us paid for it when it was only available for jailbroken iPhones.
Bottom Line: A great multiple exposure camera, despite the unpronounceable name….
OXCamera by Chime & Beeper Software is an undiscovered gem of an app because there’s no way to easily tell other iPhoneographers about it. It’s not “o” and “x”. Most browsers won’t even render the characters correctly. How do you pronounce the name? Ox Camera? Mul Eks? Omicron Chi Camera? The Artist Formerly Known as App? The title comes with a pronunciation guide (see photo), but even that doesn’t render correctly in Firefox.
Regardless of how you pronounce the name of the app, OXCamera is a surprisingly good multiple exposure camera for the iPhone. It’s a great tool to use for experimenting with multiple exposure photography on an iPhone.
