Call For Entries: EyeEm and The MPAs present Orange

EyeEm have announced a call for submissions in conjunction with The Mobile Photo Awards! The MPA is a platform that’s committed to presenting the global phenomenon of mobile photography and art in galleries and exhibitions. It’s the world’s largest open gallery call and competition of its kind: and there’s one spot open for an image at the upcoming exhibition at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art.

Be it the color, the fruit, the juice, the Netherlands, traffic lights, road signs, a popular drink or its deeply psychological meaning: get inspired by Orange and submit your pictures. Let your creativity run wild and show us the most diverse and unexpected perspectives that Orange may imply!

Deadline: your images must be added to the album by March 15, 2012, Midnight CET.

Prize: The jury, consisting of Dan Berman (founder of the MPA) and EyeEm, will select one image out of all submissions. This image is going to be printed and exhibited at the Mobile Photography Awards exhibition at the OCCCA from April 7 to April 28 2012.

Visit EyeEm for submission guidelines and more information.

The EYE’EM event in New York City has come and gone. The organizers are back in Europe. I suspect most, if not all of the hangovers are long cured…. The event attracted a lot of attention, raised awareness of iPhone and mobile phone photography, and got a bunch of iPhoneographers and iPhone artists from the New York area and around the world together for a night or two.

The EYE’EM blog just posted a retrospective of the event on their blog. Follow this link for a recap in photos of the EYE’EM New York City event — the gallery, the reception, the preparation, the artists.

EYE’EM: What Happened in Berlin

EYEEM Exhibition Berlin iphoneographyThe recent EYE’EM Exhibition at the Schlechtriem Brothers Gallery in Berlin Mitte has closed, but not before generating a lot of press and excitement.

While several iPhoneographers who had works selected for display were able to attend, many of us were unable to get to the gallery to see this exhibit in person. EYE’EM have posted a great retrospective of the show, the gallery and the attendees on their blog.

3000+ submissions, 144 shortlists, 14 runner-ups, 1 winner…later, we are even more convinced that mobile photography, as a medium, has the potential to conquer the global art scene and make it as an independent art form. EYE’EM started as a blog a couple of months ago and we are absolutely amazed to which level YOU guys have pushed this movement so far! Therefore a big thank you from our side. WE believe that this is just the beginning! To give you, especially those of you who couldn’t come to Berlin, an idea of what happened at our exhibition

EYE’EM will be making a big announcement in the coming days. Life In LoFi will keep you posted on any breaking news and events.
