One of my favorite captures in a long time. A nice thing about shooting on Hollywood Blvd. is that you never have to worry about passers-by getting out of the way of your shot if that’s what you want.

Photo App Update Roundup, July 26, 2010

I’m still surprised at how many photo apps still are not fully iOS4 compatible. I’m even more surprised at the number of camera apps that still don’t fully work with the iPhone 4. There have been a lot of slow days on the App Store updates page. That said, yesterday was not one of them and there were some really cool updates released, including updates to Color Splash, Camera Plus Pro (the Camera Plus with video), GorillaCam, and Tiffen’s Photo fx.

We’re still tracking and updating iPhone 4 compatibility in our iPhone 4 Photo App Compatibility Feature.

Technique: FILM LAB + Photo fx = The Look of Film

It’s ironic that as digital photographers, we spend a lot of time in processing to duplicate the look of film in our photos. I’ve found very few apps that achieve the look and texture of analog films that I used to shoot with.

One of my favorite photo apps is FILM LAB. Despite its flaws, it’s a very impressive app that recreates the tonal qualities of a wide range of film stocks. The one thing it is missing, though is film grain.
