Air Pearls

Have you checked out Facebook’s iPhone Photography Competition (IPC) page? Every month, iPhoneographers submit photos based on a chosen theme. The last month’s theme was “Polarized Portrait” – any photo as long as they had the Polaroid instant border. The winner of this competition was iPhoneographer, blogger and fellow Texan Edgar Cuevas with his great photograph “Air Pearls”, shown above.

In addition to having a great photographic eye, Edgar also manages and publishes the excellent iPhoneogenic, which is one of the blogs featured in our blogroll. Here’s Edgar in his own words:

I’m from a place called Houston down in the Lone Star state. I’m currently in in final year of my studies at the University of Houston Downtown studying for a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I have always taken “snap shots” with various camera phones, but it wasn’t until I got a 3G that sparked a new obsession. After being in the iPhoneography game for well over a year now, I still consider myself a student of this emerging medium where the mundane becomes beautiful, the boring becomes exciting, and the limitations become limitless. I post my work regularly on various blogs, each is link to my about.me page here. When I’m not taking photos, I run the iPhoneogenic: iPhoneography blog were our readers enjoy getting to know iPhoneographers from various parts of the world.

Thanks to the IPC followers on Facebook for voting for my photo “Air Pearls” in the “Polarized” theme.

Around since November, 2009, The IPC is a monthly competition and is free to enter. Winners are determined by reader votes. The winner gets to choose the theme of the next competition, and to sweeten the pot, the winner also gets a feature here on Life In LoFi.

The new iPhone Photography Competition (IPC) theme “Magic Hour” – any sunset photo as long as it’s shot and apped using only an iPhone or iPod Touch. This contest ends Monday, February 28, 2011. Click here for the rules of the IPC.
