ColorSplash lets you quickly and easily give photos a dramatic look by converting them to black and white, while keeping your chosen details in color

The granddaddy of the color splash apps, ColorSplash was updated today. While not sporting any big new features, the new 1.6 update is almost more of a maintenance release which adds a few new features and performance enhancements, finally taking more advantage of some of the features of iOS 4 APIs.

Here’s a list of what’s new in the 1.6 update:

  • Images are displayed in better quality and higher resolution during editing
  • Added AirPrint support for wireless printing (requires iOS 4.2)
  • Photo metadata is preserved in saved images (requires iOS 4.2)
  • Improved handling of high resolution images
  • Bug fixes and performance improvements

Other splash apps have gained preference with iPhoneographers lately, but ColorSplash pretty much invented this class of app and is still a solid performer.

ColorSplash is normally $1.99 but is currently on sale for only 99¢ in the App Store. Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. It’s old iPhone-friendly and requires iOS 3.1 or later.
