If you’re in or around Austin, Texas on Friday, July 22, iPhoneographers Jack Hollingsworth and Alex Suarez are hosting the first of many planned iPhone Photo Walks. This one gets started near Austin’s Blanton Museum at 6:30 PM. Both Stacy and I will be in Austin this weekend and we’re planning to participate in this photowalk if we get down there in time (we’re taking a photo drive down from Dallas/Fort Worth and might get distracted by Czech Stop kolaches in West). Edgar Cuevas from the iPhoneogenic blog may join as well.
More information and links after the jump. Austin is a very photogenic city and spending time with other iPhoneographers is always a blast. Hope to see y’all there!
Come and join the first of many local iWalks (photowalks with iPhone). We’ll meet at 6:30pm sharp in front of the Blanton Museum then iWalk around the UT campus-shooting with our iPhones.
The iWalk will be co-led by UT graduate and CapMac Advanced Photography SIG organizer Alex Suarez and iPhone celeb Jack Hollingsworth.
We will spend two full hours shooting together, 6:30pm – 8:30pm. Then end the evening at Austin’s Pizza on the Drag (2324 Guadalupe Street, Austin – (512) 795-8888) for beer, pizza (dutch) and iPhone fellowship.
The iWalk is for iPhone photographers only.
For those of you that also want to bring your DSLR along…that’s cool too.
Beginners and advanced shooters are all welcome. The group will most likely be small and intimate, so there will be plenty of time to ask questions along the way. We’ll have 4-6 stop markers, along the route, where we’ll spend a concentrated time shooting and learning from each other. The purpose of this iWalk is to iPhoneography together. There will be a Flickr group set up for this iWalk where we will encourage your post-event submissions and give you a venue for online bragging rights. We’ll be chasing the last light of the day so feel free, if you’re so inclined, to bring a monopod or tripod to steady out your low-light shots. Also make sure your battery is fully charged and your lens is clean. 🙂
It would also be a good idea to already have the Apps you’ll be using to shoot loaded on your iPhone so you can get right after the business of shooting.
Like most iPhone walks, I’m sure there will be lots of talk about specific Apps for camera replacement, Filtering and Processing. As a matter of fact, we hope to have a few informal processing demos at the pizza place.
This will be a no pressure, fun event. Feel free to bring the family along. It’s going to be a blast.
And, as mentioned above, the first of many local iWalks.
In the event of bad weather, we will post a cancellation notice here. Please check back for updates.
See you there.
