Macro Cell Lens Band at the Photojojo Store!
The folks at Photojojo are always finding the coolest gadgets and attachments for iPhones and other mobile phone cameras. One of their new gizmos is the fun the Macro Cell Lens Band and it’s arrived on the site just in time for the holidays. It’s an ultra-portable rubber band with an attached macro lens and can slip right over the lens of just about any smartphone camera.

Although I haven’t received a review unit, I checked out the sample images on Photojojo. The band slides on to any iPhone-sized smartphone, including Droid models, in an instant. For a plastic lens attached to a large rubber band, it gives you surprisingly sharp details in a close-up, macro image. Within its shallow depth of field, the lens seems hold focus not perfect but fairly well. See the detail images below.
One of the things that keeps me from taking more macrophotography with my iPhone is that I often forget my physical camera bag with my set of Todo-Seiko lenses. The Macro Cell Lens Band fits conveniently around your wrist or stores around the included wallet card.
For $15, it’s not pro quality glass optics, but it is a fun lens that you’re more likely to leave the house with.
