It’s been a slow photo app week, but there’s lots of exciting things happening hardware-wise in iPhoneography.

I get to see a lot of Kickstarter projects for iPhone accessories. Here’s another cool one that’s working towards meeting its funding goal. You can help and get a pretty bitchin’ iPhone accessory as well.

The ANYCASE tripod adapter is a sturdy, metal accessory for any smartphone, not just an iPhone 4 or 4S. One of the ANYCASE’s best features is that it allows you to use mount your phone with or without a case.

A naked iPhone 4 or 4S — that is, a device without a protective case — is one of the most beautiful consumer devices available. Unfortunately, due to the design of the case, the flush-mounted rear lens cover is easily prone to scratches if it’s not recessed or protected. I’m a huge proponent of using a case for the iPhone 4/4S.

The popular Glif tripod adapter is a sweet device. It’s small, portable and easy to use, but it only works on a naked iPhone 4/4S. The ANYCASE is not much bigger than the Glif, but offers several advantages.

The ANYCASE tripod adapter “fits ANY iPhone, with ANY case, even the iPhone5, probably the iPhone6.” It’s precision CNC machined in California out of aircraft-grade 6061 Aluminum. Three 3M rubber pads that have a hi-tech super-grip microdot pattern protect your phone preventing the adapter from scratching your device and keep it from slipping in any direction.

You can get an ANYCASE tripod adapter at the $25 pledge level — pretty reasonable.

There’s more information on the ANYCASE website or you can see a video of the prototype in action on the ANYCASE Kickstarter page. The funding deadline is currently Friday, July 6, 2012.
