A new $1.99 app released Friday is called “Real Camera+” and it is anything but real. This is not the reappearance of the excellent original Camera+ app, but an attempt by a developer to cash in on name recognition and ignorance of the original’s removal. Avoid this app if you’re expecting the excellent original app by tap tap tap.

Camera Prime is FREE right now in the App Store. It’s a pretty full featured camera replacement, and this is a full version, not a feature-limited “lite” version. At first glance, it’s a decent camera replacement.

Today’s Apple September Event was more than the traditional refreshing of the iPod line. There were lots of goodies from Apple for iPhone users as well. The release for the iOS 4 update was announced and the iPod Touch now gets two cameras.

The Perfectly Clear 2.0 update is in the app store now, but use caution in updating to this version of the app at this time. It’s not as unstable as I initially feared, but it still needs a lot more coddling than an iPhone app should require in order to work.
